Financial Policies

There are no financial surprises at Carmichael Healthcare.  Before we start a procedure, we will give you a cost estimate so you know approximately what the treatment fees will be.  If you like, once we have a treatment plan, and the cost, we can check with your insurance company to see what is covered.
Sometimes if this information isn't readily available, you'll have the choice of either delaying treatment until we have 100% of the information, or begin treatment right away on a pay-as-you-go basis.
In order to make this decision easier, we will be happy to take the time to go over your insurance coverage, and give you a better idea of what your best payment approach might be.
For your convenience, we accept payment from Visa®, Mastercard®, and Interac®.  In some cases, payment plans can be made available for extensive treatment situations.

How Insurance Works

Coverage for Basic Dental Care
Dental Insurance is a contract between your employer and the dental insurance company. The benefits that you will receive are based on the terms of the contract that were negotiated between your employer and the dental insurance company - not your dental office. The goal of most dental insurance policies is to provide only basic care for specific dental services.
Regardless of the coverage you receive from your dental insurance company, Carmichael Healthcare always provides a high-quality and complete result. We base our treatment plans on what you need, not on what your dental plan covers. This can be confusing.  Dental insurance companies rarely cover 100% of any dental fee and, in many cases, cover less than 50% ... or nothing at all.
Another fact that most dental patients do not realize is that each dental insurance plan has a dollar amount limitation each year.  This means that once the preset limit is reached, no other services will be covered by your dental insurance company - no matter how essential the service may be to your dental health.  You should make your dental health care decisions based on your needs and desires, not by what your insurance plan covers.
Our advice is to think long term and consider what is best for your dental health. If you receive inadequate treatment now, you will pay more in the long run if it fails prematurely.

Pre-Determination Policies
Many insurance companies try to control the amount of dentistry you receive by requiring authorization for procedures in advance. Our office will do everything possible to help you maximize the insurance benefits to which you are entitled.

We can begin treatment prior to receiving an authorization from the dental insurance company. However, patients must understand that in the event the dental insurance company refuses to pay for treatment, they are responsible for all the associated fees.  We always provide you with pricing in advance, so that you are aware of the full cost of treatment.
We recognize that the authorization process by your insurance company can be a lengthy and time consuming process.  Please be aware that their ultimate decision regarding your dental coverage doesn't eliminate your need for a variety of treatment plans.
Regardless of whether you have insurance coverage or not we will present a number of treatment options to ensure that you get the dental care that is right for you at this time.

What Can I Do If I Have No Insurance Plan Options?
Many people do not have a health insurance plan that they can fall back on to help them cover the cost of their treatments. We don't want this to be a reason why you decide not to continue getting the help you need.
If you are concerned about being able to afford the services offered, please let us know and we can help you make it work.
